AI Enabled Security Camera System

With Deepseek popping into the market I decided to make an offline Deepseek server that I could access without any internet connection. Think of it like an offline AI Terminal. You can find more info on what I did for that here. After I was done with that, I decided to continue working on this server, I believed that I could do more with it. So I decided to get a cheap 1080p camera from a local Micro Center and hook it up to see if I could create an AI powered security camera system. Before re-inventing the wheel I googled for anything related to AI and security cameras. Thankfully there is already an application that I can use to make the project easier called BlueIris.

BlueIris, linked here, is essentially just an application where you can see all of your cameras on one screen. Once you have all your cameras connected and they show up on your new camera monitoring station, you are then able to add pre-made AI systems to BlueIris which can then change how the cameras process video depending on what AI systems you are incorporating.

The entire process was highly interesting and very beginner friendly since I didn’t have to program any AI modules from scratch like I thought I might have to. I included this video to help readers understand what I am talking about, it’s the guide I used to setup BlueIris during the 15 day free trial.

1st guide and 2nd guide.

The way that all of this works is explained in the above videos, but essentially you will be using a bunch of AI code that is both free and pre-written and incorporating it into BlueIris’ camera platform. The code is all bundled together and labeled so that you can easily use everything. The AI code then can be interreacted with through a webserver that you can host locally. It should take about a week to fine tune all of your settings to be the way that you want it. After which you can decide if you want to keep BlueIris for a long term setup or let the free trial expire.
